Our Vision
We live in a country with a long history of upholding people’s rights, valuing diversity and challenging intolerance. The Commission seeks to maintain and strengthen this heritage while identifying and tackling areas where there is still unfair discrimination, or where human rights are not being respected. In taking forward this vision the Wales Committee has identified a range of projects for the year.
Influence and inform
We will inform and influence legislation, policy and decision making in order to advance the protection and promotion of equality and human rights in Wales
Public Sector Equality Duty
Increase compliance with the PSED, drive practical advances in equality and reduce specific inequalities as identified in 'Is Wales Fairer?'

Promote cross sectoral good practice sharing through the Equality and Human Rights Exchange Network
Access to justice for people experiencing discrimination in Wales
Work with & build momentum among the legal community in Wales on increasing access to advice and support
Work with other to invite strategic legal cases in Wales
Build on the 'Identifying and Tackling Discrimination in the Workplace' course
Collaborate
We will ensure that work under the Future Generations framework reflects and advances the Commission's equality and human rights priorities in Wales
Human Rights
We will ensure public service providers in Wales include human rights considerations in service delivery
Housing
We will continue our formal inquiry to examine whether the right of disabled people to independent living is supported by the provision of accessible and adaptable housing and tenancy support services.
Participation
We will build on Who Runs Wales? and bring political parties and civil society together to discuss action to increase representation
Education
We will work with Welsh Government and other towards reducing identity based bullying in schools
Work
We will encourage Welsh Government and employers to adopt our strategy for reducing pay gaps and ensure high quality apprenticeships reduce employment gaps. We will also increase membership of Working Forward in Wales.
We will continue to encourage best practice among employers in Wales by promoting our workplace guidance.
Health and Wellbeing
We will explore and follow up how effectively mental health services are considering equality and human rights.
