This report gives an overview of parents and their working and caring responsibilities in 2009.
The aim of the research was to:
- look at the mood of a range of parents, and their goals for work and care, in 2008
- get a better understanding of how parents organise and manage work and care
- look at what would help parents to manage work and care
The Commission used this research to inform its ‘Working Better’ initiative, which looked at:
- the future of work
- work-life balance issues including parental leave
- the role of fathers
- employment flexibility
- family well-being
- the concept of choice
