Testing a perspective-taking exercise

This report outlines the results of a behavioural trial looking at improving the relationship between line managers and female staff.

The aim of the trial was to test whether an online perspective-taking exercise improved line manager communication and increased their empathy and support towards female and pregnant employees.

In spring 2017, the Commission worked with the Behavioural Insights Team to run a randomised control trial in partnership with one of the largest police forces in the UK.

The trial was part of the Commission's wider work with the Behavioural Insights Team to improve the experiences of pregnant women and new mothers in the labour market.
