Annual Conference 2018: Identity-based violence and how to tackle it

Date: 19 June 2018

This year our annual conference will discuss how to tackle identity-based violence. Conference delegates will learn about their responsibility to tackle identity-based violence in their work. The conference will help delegates identify action to they can take to deal with identity-based violence in their services and workforces.

We are delighted to announce the following speakers:

  • Nazir Afzal –National Adviser to the Welsh Government on violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
  • Catrin Evans – Director for Wales, Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)

Annual Conference 2017 – A right to be human: human rights and public service delivery

Our 2017 conference discussed integrating human rights into public service delivery. We aimed to help delegates take practical steps to better meet the needs of public service users.

Speakers included Martha Spurrier, Director of Liberty, June Milligan, Chair of the Wales Committee, and Ruth Coombs, Head of the Commission in Wales.

Their messages included the need to consider all protected groups when making improvements to public services and to learn what already works in order to integrate human rights into public service delivery. 

Delegates were asked to commit to taking action to improve their working practices, outlined in our follow-up report
