Managing return to work | Disability

It is good practice for you to prepare for her return to work by having a further review to discuss any potential changes to the disabled employee’s needs.

It is good practice to hold a review with all returning disabled employees as an employee who did not previously require reasonable adjustments, may now do so.

A common issue for disabled parents is the additional journey time involved in taking their child to childcare. This might mean using Access to Work to cover the cost of travel to and from work, or putting in place a simple adjustment to start times, to take into account the additional barriers experienced.

You should ask your employee to advise Access to Work of any significant changes to their support requirements.
