Response of the Equality and Human Rights Commission to the Consultation: Women in executive management inquiry

This submission to the Women and Equalities Committee is based on the findings of a formal Inquiry, carried out under section 16 of the Equality Act 2006, into the appointments of executive and non-executive directors to the boards of FTSE 350 companies. The report, An inquiry into fairness, transparency and diversity in FTSE 350 board appointments’ was published in March 2016.

Our objective was to assess whether appointment practices were transparent and fair, resulted in selection based on merit and improved the representation of women on boards.
