In 2015 to 2016, 22% (1.1 million) of people said they were disabled.

61,000 people need adaptations to their home.

Almost 10,000 disabled Scots are on housing waiting lists.

The Scottish Government will build 50,000 new homes by 2021 but there is no target to ensure that a proportion are built to wheelchair access standard.

Only 24% of Scottish councils said the data they hold about disabled people’s housing requirements was ‘good’ or ‘very good’.

Only 17% of Scottish councils set a target for accessible and or adaptable housing (31% in England and 5% in Wales).

55% of Scottish councils said a lack of funding for adaptations was a challenge (52% in Wales, 23% in England).

90% of Scottish councils provide tenancy support services.
