Launch of an Anatomy of Economic Inequality in Wales

Thursday 12 May 2011
Cardiff University

The Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) and the Equality and Human Rights Commission are delighted to invite you to the launch of a groundbreaking new report An anatomy of economic inequality in Wales. This event will offer the opportunity to hear and discuss key findings from the report. It will be chaired by Professor Teresa Rees with presentations from Kate Bennett and authors of the report.

This landmark report provides a milestone in our understanding of relationships between peoples economic outcomes - such as education, employment and earnings - and their characteristics and circumstances. It will play a major role in evidence-based policy in Wales and assist in targeting resources to tackle persistent and emerging areas of inequality.

WISERD is a collaborative venture between the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, Glamorgan and Swansea. The strategic aim of WISERD is to establish itself as a sustainable research institute built on the active engagement of social science staff from across the Welsh HE sector and the involvement of a complex set of audiences and users in the public and private sectors.
