Creating a fairer Britain
As you know the Equality Act is coming. Key parts of this landmark piece of legislation will come into force in October. In response to the feedback we have received from many of you over the past few months, we will include in our next set of regional equality exchange events discussion of the Equality Act and what it will mean in practice for you and your organisations. If you have a particular area of the Act which you are unclear on or would like to spend some time discussing at an event please let us know when you register to attend.
We will also use the session to look at the critical issue of Equality Impact Assessment of cuts in workforce and services. We have written to all Chief Executives of public bodies in Wales reminding them of their legal equality and human rights duties. We have urged them to use Equality Impact Assessment to ensure financial decisions are fair and transparent. In these challenging times the events will offer you the opportunity to discuss the groups and services most at risk and to work with colleagues to share effective practice.
Places at these events are limited. If you would like to attend please book your place as soon as possible by downloading the reply form and emailing it to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to
