Creating a fairer Britain
The Commission is committed to addressing the most severe and stubborn disadvantage. Our purpose is not just to reduce discrimination, but also to see a fair deal for all; the Commission’s mandate is for everyone.
In order to achieve our purpose we need evidence of where the most significant and intractable inequalities lie, and we need to be able to understand the underlying causes. The Research Division provides the high quality evidence and analysis that informs the Commission’s work.
As part of the Commission’s work to develop the evidence base, work is also being carried out with others to produce an equality measurement framework and to improve the collection and presentation of equality statistics in national and other surveys. The framework should help public bodies and the Commission to agree priorities, set targets, and evaluate progress towards equality.
