Our job is to promote equality and human rights, and to create a fairer Britain. We do this by providing advice and guidance, working to implement an effective legislative framework and raising awareness of your rights.

Event: Discrimination in housing

Take action using equality and human rights law

  • Free one day seminar
  • Tuesday 9th February 2010 10am – 4:30pm
  • STUC Building, 333 Woodlands Road, Glasgow

This event is for advisors who work with people who may experience discrimination in housing; from paid advisors to volunteers at law centres, citizen advice bureaux, national and community organisations. Feel free to ask if you are not sure if it is for you.

The aims of this seminar are to:

  • Increase your understanding of discrimination and human rights law.
  • Give practical examples and advice on how to use the law.
  • Provide workshops, hosted by people experienced in the field, where you will apply legal principals to real case studies.
  • We will provide an understanding of discrimination law as it applies to all groups.
  • We would welcome your suggestions for areas to cover or case studies to analyse.

The seminar will cover:

  • Who is protected by the law.
  • How to identify discrimination.
  • Challenging issues such as discrimination, harassment, failures to make adaptations and adjustments, with equality and human rights law.
