Avoiding indirect and direct barriers for trans applicants

Your organisation may be unaware of the indirect ways in which talented individuals feel dissuaded from applying for your advertised posts. Some barriers may lead to legal challenges. There are some simple ways to signal that your organisation welcomes trans applicants.

Advertising posts

If your advertisements mention your commitment to equal opportunities, make sure that you include mention of gender identity or gender reassignment in the text or the policy to which you refer people.
