EHRC - Our Equality Impact Assessments

Equality and Human Rights Commission

Our job is to promote equality and human rights, and to create a fairer Britain. We do this by providing advice and guidance, working to implement an effective legislative framework and raising awareness of your rights.

Our Equality Impact Assessments

Welcome to our equality impact assessment pages. Here you will be able to review our completed equality impact assessments.

We are committed to publishing the results of our equality impact assessments, and in doing so, meeting our obligations under the three existing public sector equality duties for race, disability and gender.

In October 2009 the Commission introduced new procedures to strengthen the equality impact assessment processes. This involved a review of the whole function, resulting in a new screening procedure, a new 5 step approach to carrying out EIAs and new training, which was provided to support staff.

Carrying out equality impact assessments fosters ownership and a real understanding and commitment 'to get it right'. Most importantly, it will lead to a focus on the user, and with the right involvement, it reduces the risk of creating policies that can lead to indirect and/or indirect discrimination.

We value comments on any of our completed assessments, please use the contact details below if you want to provide us with any feedback.
