Submission to the ICESCR committee

The UK government was examined on its obligations under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) on 12 May 2009.

The Commission produced a written submission to the ICESCR committee in relation to the UK government's performance under ICESCR in April 2009.

The submission focused on a number of areas including:

• Representation of ethnic minorities in public life
• Equal Pay and Career Opportunities
• Welfare Reform and Employment Opportunities
• Disabled Persons and employment:
• Violence against women
• Poverty and Social Exclusion
• Access to adequate and affordable housing
