Equality and Human Rights Commission

Our job is to promote equality and human rights, and to create a fairer Britain. We do this by providing advice and guidance, working to implement an effective legislative framework and raising awareness of your rights.

Just Ageing

Today (15 December) sees the launch of our final report and recommendations for the Just Ageing? programme.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission together with Age Concern and Help the Aged, joined forces earlier this year to explore inequality throughout people’s lives and how it may lead to disadvantage in later life.
We commissioned research, which explored a range of issues such as:

  • the implications of longer lives for traditional models of social justice
  • the concept of intergenerational equity – a discussion about how resources are shared across generations, and
  • the impact of trigger events on the later life experiences of different demographic groups.

Over the last year, we have held a series of seminars, where we launched this research and discussed its outcomes. Our findings are available to view on our microsite.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of the final report, email justageing@equalityhumanrights.com for more details.
