The Commission has prepared a written submission to the United Nations Human Rights Committee in relation to the UK government's performance under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. It highlights a number of areas of concern and makes specific recommendations to the government in terms of improving human rights protection.
The Commission will be attending the oral examination of the UK government which is taking place on 7 and 8 July 2008. This will be an important opportunity to raise its primary concerns directly at the United Nations.
