Christian sues charity
The Daily Telegraph reports that Gary McFarlane, a Christian counsellor who was sacked for allegedly refusing to work with homosexual couples is bringing a case for unfair dismissal on grounds of religious discrimination. The 47-year-old father of two is to sue his charity employer at an employment tribunal.
Conservative study finds council estates 'crumbling to broken ghettos'
The Sunday Times reports on a new survey commissioned by the Conservative Party. Conducted by the Centre for Social Justice, the survey finds that since the 1960s more and more social housing tenants have become trapped in welfare dependency. It found that from 1981 the number of working-age social housing tenants in full-time employment has halved from 67% to 37% in 2006.
New work rights for carers
The Sunday Times reports that family carers are set to get new work rights in a new Bill to be outlined in the Queen's speech on Wednesday. The article states that the Bill could help the 5.2million people in Britain who care for a friend or relative.
