The exhibition images and quotations are from over 80 interviewees along with archive materials and additional research spanning seven decades. It documents and describes the transition from an era when male homosexuality was both criminal and taboo to today’s vibrant and visible lesbian, gay and bisexual community in Birmingham. Gay Birmingham Remembered is a Birmingham Pride Community Trust project funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £50,000.

You can visit the exhibition at the Commission’s Birmingham offices from Monday to Friday from 1st August 2008 to 5th September 2008.

Office opens 9.30am -5.00pm.
