Farewell to former equality commissions

A boy giving thumbs up

The Equality and Human Rights Commission replaces the three former equality commissions: the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC). We’d like to pay tribute to the dedication, hard work and achievements of these three organisations, and we aim to build on their successes in promoting equality and tackling discrimination.

Our website has dedicated sections where you can find up-to-date information on disability, gender and race (as well as separate sections on age, sexual orientation, religion and belief, and human rights). Although we’ve got lots of new material, much of our information on race, gender and disability is based on, or taken from, the former commissions, so you should find everything you need here.

In the weeks before they merged to form the new commission, the three former commissions published several important reports. In order to give easy access to these, we have gathered them together on a recent publications page.

However, we know that there may be times when you need to find something from one of the former equality commissions which is not available on our website, such as old campaigns or policy work. So we’ve made archives of the old CRE, DRC and EOC websites available for those who need them.

To gain access, you need to log in to our site (click on the ‘log in’ button in the top right corner of any page and then choose ‘register a new account’). Registration is very easy and will only take a moment. Once you’re logged in, you can find the website you want from our legacy commission website archives.

Please bear in mind that the old commission websites are not being updated and the contents do not necessarily represent the views of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
