Commissioner Baroness Jane Campbell responds to social care debate

On Monday, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Health Secretary Alan Johnson launched a six-month public debate about the future of social care for England.

The Government has said the debate will be focussed on developing long term solutions for care and support that delivers what people want well into the future. It will aim to find an affordable, fair and sustainable way of delivering and funding a first class care and support system for the 21st Century.

Today, there was a London-based event that kicked off the consultation at which the Department of Health's Director General of Social Care David Behan presented "The case for change: why England needs a new care and support system". Chair of the Disability Committee and EHRC Commissioner Baroness Jane Campbell was asked to offer a response, which you can read here in full.
