Aims of the project

  • To explore the role and experience of inspection and complaints bodies in relation to human rights practices, and how these have implications for the organisations under their remit
  • To establish whether and how inspection and complaints bodies themselves are building human rights principles into their inspection framework, and explore the benefit of a using human rights approach in their work
  • To identify good practice in sectors within the scope of the various inspection and complaints bodies.
  • To share experience between inspection and complaints bodies in England and Wales, of using human rights principles as a framework.
  • To understand how the inspection and complaints bodies engage with the service users in order to shape the principles and methodology of inspection.
