The Commission has published a report; Assessment of the publication of equality objectives by English public authorities, which reports on how listed public authorities have performed on the specific duty to publish equality objectives. It reports on the findings of an assessment of over 2000 authorities undertaken by the Commission, between September and December 2012. The Commission has published a report; Publishing equality information: Commitment, engagement and transparency; which reports on how listed public authorities have performed on the specific duty to publish equality information. It reports on the findings of an assessment of over 1100 authorities undertaken by the Commission between February and April 2012. It includes information about performance across a range of sectors, it sets out what good practice looks like, and it includes recommendations for public authorities to help them to improve their performance.(Word version)
The Commission has produced guidance that explains how public authorities may approach the task of ensuring they comply with the equality duty at different stages of the procurement cycle. The Commission has published Public Sector Equality Duty Technical Guidance for England, Wales and Scotland. The guidance provides an authoritative, comprehensive and technical guide to the detail of the law.
The Equality and Diversity Forum have published an Equality Duty Support Package for the Voluntary Sector. This online tool kit has been developed to help the Voluntary Sector to have a greater impact on the way that public bodies meet their responsibilities under the Public Sector Equality Duty.

The Commission has published a new practical guide Public sector equality duty guidance for schools in England that illustrates how the Equality Duty can help schools to raise attainment, tackle bullying and improve behaviour. The guide features a series of short practical case studies and FAQs to help make it more hassle-free for Schools to meet their Equality Duty.
The Commission has published an Easyread guide to the equality duty: 'A law about making things easier for people from different groups. Guide to the public sector equality duty'. The guide explains what the law is, and what it means for public authorities.
On 1 October 2012, new provisions in the Equality Act 2010 come into force, extending the ban on age discrimination to cover services, public functions and private clubs and associations (with some notable exceptions). This means that the first aim of the general equality duty (to eliminate unlawful discrimination) will now also cover age discrimination with regard to these areas. We were intending to produce a statutory code of practice on the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) for England, but unfortunately, we are no longer able to proceed with this plan. The Government feels that further statutory guidance may place too much of a burden on public bodies. Although the Commission has powers to issue codes, it cannot do so without the approval of the Secretary of State, as we are reliant upon government to lay codes before parliament, in order for them to be statutory. We have issued an update about a monitoring project we will be undertaking on the specific duty to publish equality information. We have now uploaded both Welsh and English language versions of the Public Sector Eqaulity Duty guidance for Wales. The guides provide an overview of the equality duty, including the general equality duty, the specific duties and who they apply to. They cover what public authorities should do to meet the duty. This includes steps that are legally required, as well as recommended actions. > View the guidance for Wales.

The Commission has published revised versions of Equality information and the equality duty, Equality objectives and the equality duty and Engagement and the equality duty. These editions reflect the final specific duty regulations and they replace the first edition of the guide published in January 2011. The guides are for public authorities in England and for non-devolved public authorities in Scotland and Wales. Further revised guides on the equality duty will be available shortly. The specific duties regulations for England (and non devolved bodies in Scotland and Wales) have today come into force. They are intended to help public authorities improve their performance on the general equality duty. Draft specific duties regulations for England (and non devolved bodies in Scotland and Wales) have now been laid before Parliament. These are referred to as ‘draft’ regulations until they come into force. The Government Equalities Office advises that subject to Parliamentary approval, they will come into force before the summer recess.

The public sector equality duty comes into force today in England, Scotland and Wales. The new duty replaces the previous race, disability and gender equality duties. The public sector equality duty section of our site contains all the information public authorities need to make sure they are meeting the new duty.

The Welsh Assembly Government has now passed the Specific Equality Duties for Wales and the regulations have been laid. The specific duties will come into force on 6 April 2011. For further information is available on the Welsh Assembly Government website (PDF).
Along with a range of other organisations, the Commission has submitted a formal response to the consultation.
The Commission is planning to publish non-statutory guidance and a statutory Code of Practice for Wales later in 2011.
