EHRC - Fair treatment when in education

Equality and Human Rights Commission

Our job is to promote equality and human rights, and to create a fairer Britain. We do this by providing advice and guidance, working to implement an effective legislative framework and raising awareness of your rights.

Fair treatment when in education

Students in education have a right to fair treatment and to be respected. They have a right to free thought and free expression and to be educated without threats or mistreatment.

Education providers should not only respect these rights, but should actively seek to support them. This section looks at some of the areas of education and school, college or university life where these rights are most important.
