Equality Exchange Network Regional Events: January 2011

  • Tuesday 18 January – Carmarthen,
  • Thursday 20 January – Bangor
  • Wednesday 26 January – Cardiff

Following the Welsh Assembly’s Government’s announcement about the draft budget, the EHRC wrote to Chief Executives of public sector organisations and service providers about the importance of conducting equality impact assessments on proposals to make cuts to services.  In her announcement, Jane Hutt said that WAG had responded to equality impact assessments and local government pressures, and funding for social services had been adjusted.

At our events in January, we will look at the potential impact of cuts on protected groups. We will seek to look at particular concerns you are experiencing in your organisation.  This session will be entirely confidential. The aim of this session will be to learn from each other, identify potential solutions and share good practice.

We will also review our new report ‘Not Just Another Statistic’. The aim of this session will be to help you build your evidence base around transgender, asylum seekers and refugees, people with a mental health condition and Gypsy Travellers. We will facilitate discussion to help you to find solutions to some of the entrenched problems identified in the report and find out more from colleagues about their work in this area.

The events will take place between 10am and 3pm.

Places at these events are limited. If you would like to attend please book your place as soon as possible by filling in the reply slip attached and returning it to mandy.bain@equalityhumanrights.com. The closing date for booking is Monday 10 January 2011.
