Our Equalities Mediation Service (EMS) concludes at the end of March 2012. This means that we cannot accept any further mediation referrals from members of the public or advisory agencies on behalf of clients.
The Government's consultation document Building a fairer Britain: Reform of the Equality and Human Rights proposed removal of our mediation referral powers.
Read our response:
No specific funding for mediation was assigned in the Commission's budget allocation for 2012/13. There was every expectation that the removal of our mediation referral power would happen by April 2012. In the light of this, the Commission has taken the view that it is unable to fund this service as from 1 April 2012
The Government provides an alternative list of civil mediation providers available at Civil Mediation.
